I bought an 8TB Seagate hard drive from Amazon (BarraCuda Hard Drive 8TB ST8000DM004) and I have plugged it in correctly and it shows up in my disk management as 8tb RAW Healthy (Primary Partition) after a few days of trying and failing. 4. Initialize the drive. Open Disk Management. In the bottom left, click on the uninitialized disk and choose Initialize Disk from the contextual menu. Choose the partition style, GPT or MBR. This will wipe everything from the disk storage. Click Ok and try accessing the drive.
